Otherwise, Bieber, Cyrus, 1D and your fave would sell as much as her, and (guess what?) they don't.
If Taylor's lyrics are cloying, well, that, at least, means that they can convey the emotion/feeling of sweetness. That would, by default, make them better than your fave's lyrics, which cannot convey any emotion, sweetness or not, period. And as I mentioned before, denying your fave's lack of depth, quality or substance isn't going to make Taylor any worse/better. So save your breath.

I wasn't using "teenager" as a pejorative. I was merely stating that making that the most distinctive aspect of your persona is certainly not compelling enough to redeem the fact that her music is otherwise objectively garbage. She's essentially a middle-America pandering Katy, but she doesn't even rely on someone like Bonnie to make her melodies somewhat compelling.
Carly's easily a better vocalist than Taylor, both in terms of tone and emotive ability. Taylor's vocals can really only match her sings when they're as pained as her singing is. Carly's vocals, meanwhile are airy and ebullient and, at 28, her lyrics are simultaneously more youthful and mature than Taylor's are.
Can Taylor even pass a Bechdel test?
