As a gay man myself, I find your comment to be the only thing disrespectful here. There is nothing wrong with assuming someone might be gay. That implies theres something wrong with being gay in the first place - which there isn't. I've always thought he might have been gay. Gay men who live straight lives are almost always depressed. That's not to say it was definitely the cause of his depression. I've always thought he was gay because of the way he acts and talks, and as a man who grew up during a time when homosexuality wasn't ok, and a man who lived through the AIDS crisis, he might not have wanted to have lived a gay life. That is, if he was even gay in the first place. Which, there's nothing wrong with asking if anyone else thought he might have been.
Do you have any idea how many men of Robin Williams' generation (baby boomers) are gay but committed to straight lives?
How dare you insinuate that it's disrespectful to simply ask if others think someone might be/might have been gay. That's what's disrespectful here. There's nothing wrong with being gay.

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 a.m, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. The Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63-year-old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA. An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Division s of the Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.

I'm so incredibly shocked and depressed about this. Robin Williams was one of my alltime fave male actors, starring in many of my fave films. He was such an incredible man. RIP Robin, you'll be missed,

Do you know what's bothering me? Why couldn't people say he was the best comedian of all time and all that ish when he LIVED! Why couldn't people acknowledge him and give him attention when he was alive? smh
And he will be forgotten after a few months. Just like Hoffmans death.

I'm legit sad. Robin was a huge part of my child hood. I know he hadn't been active in film as much but I couldn't imagine this would be an outcome. Jesus. Praying for his family.

Seriously though, has a single actor ever encaptured pure humor and goodness and helped grow a whole generation? He was a fantastic actor too, for those of you who only know him for his comedies. Brilliant, brilliant man.
