The thing behind Banks is obviously the attempt to make her the unknown/mysterious girl out of that came out of the blue and that no one knows about, kinda like Lana (we're still not 100% sure what happened pre-2006) but as time passes short pieces of their biography get revealed and unleash a new stage of their career or simply gives them press. Nobody really caught up on Banks yet because she lacks something to eventually blow up. And in contrast to Lana she doesn't make use of social media.

That magazine or website or whatever is such trash. They are as attracted to faux artistry and pretentiousness as Katy Cats are to shiny stuff.
They're often good at sifting out faux artistry and concentrating on the quality of the music. Their reviews of Ultraviolence and LP1 are pretty on-the-money!
They both did, at least musically. Too bad the rest of their music sucks outside of these 2 songs.
I think Jessie's has come with Tough Love (partly) but she will really come into her own in her Sophomore album (out October!). HAIM kinda but still just a notch below Lana/Lorde though.
Talent wise, they are both light years ahead of Lana/Lorde but they still haven't had that "WOW, look @ her/them" moment yet like Amy had with say Back To Black.
