You sound ridiculous. You can't compare me making the decision to not let my son wear a dress until he's mentally and physically mature enough to understand a decision like that to your extreme examples and point of view.

And yes as I parent I will worry about what people will do to my child. That's the whole point behind my decision making process.

Goths generally move in move in packs so you can be assured that they will have at least have friends. I could not imagine a premature drag queen in preschool having any friends. Also goth phases usually don't start until teenage years.

If your son is old enough to date, I think he's old enough to face a bullying, and old enough to choose his own clothes.

I'd let my son wear goth clothing, and I'd let him date a boy if he was gay. If any of those situations put him in a situation that made his school experience so bad that he couldn't even bear to go to school, I'd just put him in home school. However, it's pretty obvious that a boy wearing a dress, at least in the times we live in now, will be near universally unaccepted and would result in bullying. That type of thing just has less tolerance than the other examples.

Yes. I would not hesitate to warn him about how others might perceive him, but in the end it's HIS choice and if he feels truly comfortable with wearing a dress then I will have no problem with letting him.

Nobody said they'd let their kid wear anything they want. And nobody said anything about living through their kids. It's about letting your child be who they want to be as long as they're not harming anyone.
