When it comes to being a pioneer or someone who is ahead in the game in pushing boundaries and trying different things while taking artistic risks, LADY GAGA's name is one of the names that comes to mind.

Now she is venturing into the Jazz genre by releasing her collaborative effort, Cheek to Cheek with Jazz Legend Tony Bennett in september. This album is a totally different direction for Gaga & a very interesting one as well.

So do you applaud her for trying different things, experimenting & always being unpredictable?

Also do you think it will greatly enhance her artistic merit & acclaim as an artist?

Would this album not be credited to Gaga's overall career? Will it not he included in her overall discography?

Will critics, gp, fans not see it as a Gaga & Tony album?

And there's no such thing as a "side" project. Its a full fledged album, although of mostly covers, but still. She has spent her time & energy on it. So yeah.

I applaud her because it shows that she is versatile. It also shows how talented she is because jazz is not the easiest genre. It's also nice when an artist steps out of what they normally do comfortably.

I applaud her for doing something she a) wants to do, and b) can do. What other pop girl could do a jazz record tbh? Gaga has the talent and the vocal ability to do it, and she's doing it. Major props for that

I applaud any artist who does something that is not expected of them, especially when it's something that could put them but it's also IMO I find it like she took an easy route with something that is safe because it can flop and that'll be fine. It;s like a fixer upper.

It's not really a risk or anything. Since it's not a mainstream pop album and won't get played on the radio, she doesn't have to worry if it's a success or not. She has everything to gain and nothing to lose.

At best, she wins a Grammy or two and gains more public respect and a few older fans. At worst, the album doesn't sell and is quickly forgotten about.

But good for her for doing different things.

I'm not even a Gaga fan but it's a great way to show her true talent, her vocals which were always overshadowed by her antics. Now people can see her for the vocalist that she truly is.
