I read the book and loved it but it is so hard watching the movie after reading the book. The movie skims over the second half so frantically and crazily that I feel like I'm watching a film in fast forward.

The first half of GWTW is, indeed, one of the few perfectly captured films though. The "as god as my witness" scene is just incredible.
