Yeah, that's why I don't get why changing the pitch/tempo to someone else's song would afford whoever uploaded it any kind of meaningful affirmative defense.
Is this to sanction and preserve the legality of those chipmunk voice parodies? Cuz if so I am all in favor, and if not maybe we ought to be.
I think people do it because Youtube has an algorithm that automatically removes songs that violate copyright law, and pitched versions tend to bypass it. At the very least, the song stays up longer than if the original pitched version is uploaded.

Oh that makes a lot more sense. So it doesn't make them any more legal, it just makes them harder to find on a mass widescale level.
