Wow, 5x platinum back in 1998. Much unheard of, much shocking. And I'm sorry KAK, but those songs are not classic Nobody outside of certain black groups know them. Moesha is iconic, I'll give you that but the braids are not. If any braids are iconic due to a popstar, it's Impactnet with the poetic justice braids. It's not like there weren't any black barbies before she came along. What iconic family? The reality show was a flop and it's not as if she's doing massive #s at her "sold out shows around the globe".
And it's not just that Europe doesn't use her, neither does anywhere else Like I said, save it.

Her album still outsold all of her contemporaries at the time (Teen R&B girls). IDK why you're trying to downplay 5.5M sold of One album just because of a time period. Even Mariah Carey wasn't hitting those numbers in 1997-1998. Those songs
ARE iconic. Everyone in the Urban community knows I Wanna Be Down & Have You Ever. The Boy Is Mine is a classic everywhere. Just because YOU haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it's not a classic.
Braids WERE Brandy's trademark. It's honestly both, but Brandy is known more for the Braids because that was like the only look she was rocking at the time and everytime people saw her (which was everyweek on Moesha), they saw those iconic braids. Same way The Navy uses the red hair. Many artists have had red hair before, but it's Rihanna's trademark.
Ray J is a pretty big star. Infamous as hell, but he does have a memorable hit (Sexy Can I).
There were black barbies, but there was never a black PRINCESS Barbie doll. It was important and it she was the first to ever do it.
It's true, Brandy isn't doing massive huge numbers, but the shows still sell out and she's still performing and making money off it.
