I'm starting to think Katy made a big mistake in not using her Teenage Dream momentum to make more meaningful music and videos, like Madonna did with Like a Prayer after the Like a Virgin-True Blue slayage (which was mostly simple, inoffensive pop songs). She got her two smashes but everything else has fallen flat and now not even being Top 170 after a really well-made, designed-to-smash video and song?! Something is clearly going wrong, and I think it's that by not really changing up her sound and aesthetic (you could even argue the latter has devolved into even less sophisticated fare than Teenage Dream) she's become disposable because any of these pop hoes can make catchy pop songs about having fun and simple love with fun videos (Ariana is already gaining on her in that regard).
Gaga just imploded thanks to her obsession with 'the gays' and becoming too weird too fast.
She should've handled it more useful. Maybe not music videos with more meaning (we know that will never happen) but maybe she could've bridged the time until the release of Roar with some successful collabs to remain the talk of the GP as far as impact goes with her name. She shouldn't have vanished completely after Wide Awake even though there was just a year until Roar.
It's really a perfect time for her release. All other girls eras are either done or in Katy's case current singles are flopping. There's no competition. I mean if they actually wait for November again when both Adele and Taylor will have albums and singles out
