Laughing because Gaga failed to sell even 1/3rd of her last album's sales, failed to get a #1 single, failed to have more than 1 Top 10 hit (hit, don't try it with "Dope"), failed to go platinum, and failed to outdo Katy in literally anything when her fans were so sure that she had no chance a year ago proves that she fell very, very hard from her last era. Just 3 albums in, and she is already failing to go platinum and having to downgrade her tours.
You guys thought she was going to dominate the world with this era, and failed to live up to that statement in every single way. She herself once said that the album was going to be very commercialized and was meant to appeal to the mainstream market, yet it didn't manage to appeal to the market the way she thought it would. She suffered a drop of astronomical proportions over the course of one album, and that's beyond sad. Katy may not be selling as many albums as she was last era, but her 2 mega hit singles were among her biggest to date, and her tour is set to gross AT LEAST double what her last did.
So while Katy continues to grow, Gaga continues to sink in every single possible aspect, and there is no amount of denial that her fans can fall back on because she literally has nothing within the grasp of her heroin-ridden arms anymore.
