Zedd appears on WWLP (22 News Springfield, Massachusetts)
After a critically-acclaimed performance at the VMAs and the disappointing loss in the two categories he was nominated in, Zedd appeared on the local NBC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, WWLP to promote his latest album, Serenity, its current single which features Lady Gaga, “Temple,” and the tour in support of the album, the Moment of Serenity World Tour. Zedd performed for the station and its viewers; he was also interviewed. The interview included topics such as the tour, the new album, and working with the artists featured on the album. Rich Tettemer: Welcome to 22 News, Zedd!
Zedd: Thanks for having me here!
Juli McDonald: So, we were wondering how your current album Serenity and current single “Temple” are doing.
Zedd: They’re doing great! They got a decent boost recently due to the VMA performance. They fell into the 20s on their respective charts, but are now back in the top 10. Would’ve loved to see both go number one again, but I realize that’s asking for too much with all that competition.
Tettemer: Your album features the following singers: Lady Gaga, Kesha, Azealia Banks, Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Matthew Koma, Foxes, and Miriam Bryant. What was it like working with those people?
Zedd: It was challenging, but rewarding. I’ve worked with a few of them before so I knew what to expect with some of them. “Break Free” and “Just a Little Kiss” actually took little time to be created; they found what I made initially great for the most part; Max Martin changed Break Free around a bit for Ariana’s album though. It was with Kesha and Azealia I had the most trouble working with; it’s not because they’re bad people, in fact they’re wonderful people. It’s just that we all wanted to make sure the songs were perfect.
McDonald: So your tour is stopping at Six Flags tonight, right?
Zedd: Yep, Six Flags New England. Make sure you get your tickets- they’re nearly sold out!
Tettemer: Oh, wow. We really need to switch gears to the weather! Hang on Zedd, go ahead and get ready for your performance.
After the weather and traffic, and then commercials, Zedd was ready for his performance. A mini DJ booth was set up in the studio. Zedd began to play “Temple.” The staff in the studio was bopping throughout the performance. Zedd added some effects, and then transitioned the song into the Calvin Harris remix at the second chorus. He then switched back to the main version for the bridge and the next chorus. A repeat of the chorus with the Calvin Harris remix was played. As Zedd faded the song out, he started to play “Not a Single Problem.” He played this for one minute before suddenly cutting to “I Found You” at the end of the first chorus. He then played the song for about one minute until it ended. The studio staff gave Zedd a standing ovation as the station cut to commercial break.
Zedd's new album Serenity and the singles "Slay" and "Temple" (feat. Lady Gaga) are now available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, various retail stores, and all Six Flags parks.

Zedd stops by Mix 93.1 (WHYN-FM), host starts massive controversy
After not getting any awards at the VMAs this week, Zedd has stopped by to co-host Springfield, Massachusetts, radio station Mix 93.1 (callsign WHYN-FM) to promote his album Serenity, his current single “Temple” (featuring Lady Gaga), and the Moment of Serenity World Tour. Zedd was interviewed about his current album, current single, tour, his performance at the VMAs, being nominated for two VMAs and not winning either of them. The subject of Marina and the Diamonds’ car accident briefly came up, but Zedd preferred not to talk about it at this time, despite being urged to respond by the host. The host then sparked a controversy that took the world by complete surprise. The interview between the host, Jon Francis, and Zedd can be read below.
Jon Francis: Welcome to Mix 93.1, Zedd!
Zedd: Thanks for letting me be here!
Francis: So, let’s talk about the VMAs. [Zedd groans.] Alright, I understand it was a disappointment. Were you expecting to win either award?
Zedd: Not at all. Maybe the Small Genre award, but the competition was tough overall, especially in my categories. “Psycho” definitely deserved Best Collaboration. Same with “Vibes" for small genre although I much prefer the video for the "Paradiso" remix.
Francis: So your current album, Serenity. How was the recording process?
Zedd: It was pretty much seamless the whole way through. Only difficulties were with “Not a Single Problem” and “Off the Floor.” Kesha and Azealia just had so much creativity flowing when we made those songs together. I’m very proud of those songs especially. I love all my other songs too! It’s just that with these two, I felt like there was more of a connection between us than any other artists, aside from Lady Gaga. The reason I didn’t include “Temple” in the list of difficult songs is because it was already written before I started working on this album.
Francis: Speaking of “Temple,” both it and your album rose from a low top 30 position to a mid top 10 position. How does that feel?
Zedd: Amazing. They have so much longevity right now. I have to thank the VMA performance for this, though.
Francis: Speaking of that, I loved the performance!
Zedd: Thanks! I created the concept on my own. Gaga threw in some of her ideas, but it was mostly from my imagination. I wanted to pay tribute to one of the greatest film series ever, Indiana Jones. “Temple” was the best opportunity I had for this, so I took it. I loved how it turned out. If it looked amazing to you on TV, you should have seen it in person! It was the opposite for the music video; that was all Gaga.
Francis: Interesting. So, I’m sure you’ve heard about Marina and the Diamonds-

Right after the interview ended, the host’s extremely offensive remarks made it to the Internet, where people revealed that they were surprised that this happened in today’s world, especially on the left-leaning East Coast. People heavily criticized and chastised Francis for saying such offensive remarks about Zedd. Numerous celebrities, including singer-songwriter Lady Gaga supported Zedd. “.@Zedd’s obviously in pain over Marina’s situation, stop asking him about it, and don’t call him the F-word,” she said on Twitter with the hashtags #LeaveZeddAlone and #FireJonFrancis, which both became the top trending topics worldwide. The news soon started reporting this story, and it made international news. President Barack Obama said in a statement earlier today, “This or any act of prejudice will not be tolerated in any way. I urge Clear Channel Communications, the owner of the radio station in question, to fire Jon Francis and to immediately suspend his pay. I also urge the FCC to fine Francis for his actions today. I additionally urge Congress to pass laws that protect LGBT individuals from discrimination and prejudice like this.” Zedd’s label, Cayman Records, has declined to comment on the situation, as has Clear Channel Communications, the owner of WHYN-FM. Zedd has cancelled his promotion in Hartford, Connecticut, and Boston due to this unfortunate circumstance. A radio station in each of the two cities was meant to give away one free VIP ticket to Zedd’s concert that is scheduled for tonight, which may not even happen tonight anymore. Selena Gomez on Good Morning America; Talks VMA Performance and HUGE New Deal
Selena woke up bright & early this morning to appear on Good Morning America to talk her VMA performance and her deal with Viacom. Selena took a break from her Parisian promotional trip to perform at last night's Video Music Awards and sit down with us. She also performed as part of our Summer Concert series. When asked about her now controversial use of pantomimed guns, the singer commented "I don't regret what I did at all. There was a meaning behind the use of guns and I do not apologize." Almost immediately after the awards ceremony, the internet went crazy over her gun stunt. It had many people divided, some people were in full support and some were extremely offended. It became such a hot issue that the Parents Television Council assured everyone that they would be taking action against everyone involved. Her publicist revealed that she would be further discussing that issue on CNN later tonight.
What she really came to talk about was her brand new advertising deal with Viacom, the company that owns all of America's favorite TV networks. Almost two weeks ago, the news broke that she would be starring in her own docu-series to air on NBC. The show premiered on July 24th. Selena tells GMA the origins of the series and gives us a breakdown of the deal "Well, um my manager Kim set up a meeting between me, my people and Viacom's people so that we could all work out some sort of deal that would benefit both parties. I have an advertising deal with them. What their side does is run ads for my album Fool's Paradise. They run ads on certain networks at certain times, for the best times for them to get seen. And what I was originally offered to do was star in another one of the big shows on their networks for 8-10 episodes. I didn't really like that option and shows that I had to choose from so we came up with the idea of the docu-series. I was already thinking of doing that, but online. And then we all got the idea to put it on TV instead." While information was already leaked about the deal, Selena couldn't tell us more. "All I can say is that it was lucrative. I'm not allowed to give out exact figures, but it is a lucrative deal in more ways than one." she laughed.
"So it's gonna be on all major networks, almost every hour? Was the plan to take over TV?" we asked. "TV, among many other things!" she laughed. While Selena herself couldn't tell us exactly how much she made from the deal, several sources close to the singer and to Viacom told us the deal is worth $100M. However, all of that does not go straight to Selena's pocket. The production expenses of the docu-series will be taken from that along with the amount it costs to create the ad. Selena will also be taking part in another Viacom TV show and will be getting paid a certain amount for each episode. Whatever is left after her check from the other viacom project, the production fees of the docu-series and the expenses it takes to make and run the ad will be going straight to Selena. It's being reported that none of that should cost much, so Selena will be making a pretty penny when all is said & done. For a schedule of the ads and when they'll be running, see below.
Before she left, she took part in the summer concert series. Performing her new song Best, she went for a more toned-down approach than her performance at the VMAs. She performed Best along with Crown & What You See. She performed for in a leather jacket and high-waisted shorts, similar to what she performed in at the awards. Before she left, she told the crowd to look out for a "few surprises coming their way". Today, Selena will be making her way back to France to celebrate the French release of her album "Fool's Paradise", previously only released in North America. Mariah is getting out of hand. She recently tweeted a suspicious tweet about being on the CBS channel before it got deleted minutes later. Then earlier this morning, CBS channel revealed a surprise segment show only focused on Mariah's latest controversial incident about the album crime. The sudden revelation had caused the hashtag #MCrevelationCBS to be trendjng on twitter worldwide for 12 hours straight. More than 15 million people stay perched on their televisions in the United States alone, tuning in onto the CBS channel due to the incident which had affected them emotionally. Due to the Special CBS Segment, Mariah's latest single and album experienced a increase in sales once again as it reclaim the top spot of the Global iTunes charts respectively.
The segment starts off with Mariah being shown wearing a simple white T-shirt with the words*"I Don't Care"*with a pair of jeans. Sporting a simple makeup and straight hair, Mariah introduces herself as the instrumental of her latest single, "The Stygian Chevalier", starts to play in the background. After the segment, she revealed that she will perform her latest single, "The Stygian Chevalier" and "Peasants", which is one of the album tracks from her latest album in the CBS studio where she is filming the Special CBS Segment. For the performance, she wore a beautiful red gown which showed her curvaceous body and beautiful skinny legs. She curled her hair for the performances too. "This is dedicated to all the basic pop stars who are planning to bring me down, you don't know who you are messing with. Here come The Stygian Chevalier to slay ya'll.....", she says as the intro of "The Stygian Chevalier" kicks in. The stage of the performance was kept as simple as possible in order to convey the clear message of both these two songs. Fog appeared everywhere, covering the stage as she performed the second verse. She did her famous hand tics in the end as she belted the final chorus with her strong vocals. "Keep trying peasants", she whispered onto the microphone as the intro of the album track, "Peasants" kick in. She did a danxe choreography which is inspired by Beyonce's "Diva" choreography as she sang to the fast paced trap song. She did the bridge part differently compared to the studio version by rapping instead, which was never done by Mariah in a very long time. The last time she rapped on a track was on a track titled, "Prisoner", which is on her debut album back in the 1990. Mariah then hit those whistle notes at the end of the chorus. Today Pixie Lott continued her long promo for her as we all know new album “trapper In flashbacks” an album that was released on Saturday night, and made internet go crazy, also all the social networking sites, music sites and way more. And now Pixie is all over UK and USA promoting her album like crazy, there’s not single yet, still, she’s only focused and album and on his promotion, so yeah, Pixie is having a pretty rough week fighting Tyalor’s Swift’s album, but she’s ready for a fight, and she is doing her best to snatch that number 1. She performed a set of songs from her new album (Beauty, Crumbling World and Problem) She was very lovely while performing, and she also answered the questions she got from the host, it was just a great time overall, and a lot of fans we’re there to support Pixie, they waited for her autograph, and wanted to take a picture with her.
First of all Pixie performed her set of songs, the set started with her song beauty, which was written by Georgie, as the title says it was truly a beautiful performance. Pixie had flowers in her hair, was wearing a floral dress, and looked just beautiful, her shoes were simple white heels, and she rocked cute make up, and her hair was combed nice. She totally gave an A list vocals on this performance, she not only sang well, but she also interacted with fans while singing, signed autographs on their hands, she also got some flower, she then added them on stage, and there was huge pile of flowers, and Pixie laid in them, it was just great, Pixie with floral dress, in flower pile, she totally nailed the idea on the spot, just great, who can se think of that? Beauty lyrics were in the screen behind her showing, and people in crowd tried to sing with Pix, and they done a pretty great job, Pixie loved how their voices matched together like a little choir. She then ended Beauty and started singing Crumbling World, she sat in chair, and sang song acoustically, she really showed ehr vocal abilities with this one, and it was lovely to hear her crystal clear voice so beautifully toned down, and well it was just great. The lyrics had a lot of meaning, and that made fans realize how personal this album of Pixie’s is, and how much truth it speaks. They listened to her quietly and paid attention to her voice, it was quiet, you could have heard a pin drop, but Pixie’s voice was so beautiful and clear and it was just amazing how in the end, everybody screamed at the same time, Pixie smiled and looked happy. Then she said: So guys, you are amazing, such a great crowd, I have one more song for you, I’d like you all to stand up and help me sing it, you can read the lyrics in the background, so let’s go, it’s Problem” problem started beat kicked in, Pixie kicked off her shoes, and was barefoot, with a beautiful white short dress, she looked really retro, and very sweet, she sang well, and served a lot of energy, she jumped around, was all sweaty, there we’re a lot of light effects,s sparkly backgrounds, and more stuff, it was overally a fantastic performance, and Pixie really nailed everything, everybody know in America knows how good she is, and she ‘s is happy about it, she thanked everyone with her British accent after her set. She said: “Thank you all so much, you are all amazing, and it was a blast to perform for you, can’t wait to see you all on my upcoming tour someday!” Then she went to talk with host.
Host: Pixie wow, that was amazing, you totally slayed the roof, what a great performance, such a powerful energy, great vocal abilities, and just overall a wow.
Pixie Lott: Thank you so much, I really did try me best, I’m just a bit tired, but I still did my best, I just went on stage and did my thing, gave my best, and I’m happy with the result, people here are so energetic and great, such a big crowd also, and all these posters just amazing. Fantastic experience, I’m just over the moon now! Gosh it was so good! (Thank you guyyyys, she yelled)
Host: So much fun, and you did amazing as I said, you’re new album btw, so unexpected, let me tell you something I didn’t even knew you before that album, I’m so sorry, but you we’re never here in America, why’s that?
Pixie Lott: No need to explain, nobody over here knew me, because well I was sort of UK only girl, my label never tried to push me anywhere further, and that’s just sad, because I really eyed to visit USA in my career beginnings but they left me in UK, and then i flopped hard, and parted ways with label, because I will not work for people who have no interest in me, and I joined Neptune and now well you now me, so I’m very happy, I’m worldwide now, and thanks for kind words on album, bitter sweet.
Host: Happy for all the success, about you’re album also why you released it without singles, and in complete surprise to. How did you kept this secret for so long?
Pixie Lott: Well, me and my team had a lot of talks they wanted a surprise release, I didn’t but then we talked more and we decided to release in complete surprise, I actually had a single prepared, but I’m glad my label stopped me, now I feel confident only promoting my album, and to be getting to perform all songs from it, whenever I want, I don’t have o stick to one song, I can perform all, because no single yet, I do whatever I want, so good! I always try to come up with the best sets for performances. And well it was not a huge secret, but nobody cared about be, and just didn’t noticed that, I was so happy there were zero paparazzi’s and now they are waiting for me on every corner very tiring and annoying, I can’t even meet up with my family without them, they need to stop.
Host: Well stay strong girl, you will get through it, just take some time and relax somewhere in secret. Also any single ideas?
Pixie Lott: yes, we have one idea finally, but not going to share it yet, because I don’t want to blow the bubble yet, I’ll reveal some details next week tho, and music video will be coming too, so it’s all happening remember that!

After a heavy promotional week and 11 dates from her tour completed, Charli XCX stopped by the HBO studios to announce a three nights special titled 'Devour My Heart: Live'. The three nights special is actually a concert broadcasted live from a different venue, from around the world. The three concerts will take place in two weeks week and tickets are already on sale on Charli XCX's website charlixcxmusic.com and on Live Nation's website livenation.com and on the website especially created for the special, XCXDMHLive.com. The concerts will take place at Los Angeles, Paris and finally Tokyo.
"I'm very excited to announce the three consecutive nights special 'Devour my Heart: Live' which will allow you to view the whole shows on three different nights completely live. Special live streams will also be created to ensure that the biggest amount of people can watch those shows" said Charli in the letter she wrote to her fans, announcing the concert specials. "It's not like a night from the Tokyo Lights Tour, it's more intimate, more private and unique. I will perform both album 'True Romance' and 'Devour My Heart' fully. You can also access the website created for the event XCXDMHLive.com to check exclusive videos, some of them in 3D, some instrumentals and even some games, created in association with Sony. I'd also like to thank both HBO and Redbull who helped me in doing this project and without whom this wouldn't happen" she concluded.
The concerts will take place on Sunday 10th of August at Los Angeles' Del Rey Theater, Monday 11th of AUgust at Paris' Olympia and finally on Tuesday 12th of July at Tokyo. The shows will be broadcasted live on HBO and will be live streamed on HBO GO, charlixcxmusic.com and XCXDMHLive.com. Advertisements are already being set up as billboards and different the promotional tours including TV commercials which features scenes from the 'Alone in the Dark' music video and the 'Tokyo Lights' music video.
