THE QUEEN IS BACK: Lady Gaga reclaims spotlight at the VMA's as she works the red carpet and slays her performance of new single, "PARTYNAUSEOUS"
Lady Gaga arrived at the VMA Red Carpet in a grand golden carriage.
The ceremony had been great with some outstanding performances, but Gaga's monsters were in for another surprise as she performed at the VMA's once again and managed to outdo herself from her performance of Applause at the previous show.
Gaga starts off at the end of the catwalk wearing a black niqab and still with her golden hand accessory. Their is a distorted and chopped version of her song "Burqa" playing in the background. The camera is closed up on her face as she stares deep into it. This part is in black and white. The screen above her shows clips from vintage horror movies, Marilyn Monroe and other classic sex icons.
The camera slowly pulls out and reveals Gaga's costume. Gaga shouts "Is the MTV VMA's readyyyy?... to get MOTHER****IN' SLEAZYYYYYY??? COME ON!". She pulls a pistol from behind her and shoots the camera. PARTYNAUSEOUS begins and the build up of the song begins as the curtain drops kabuki style to reveal the stage. Their are strobe lights and lasers everywhere. The stage is made up of glass panels and giant glass letters scattered around that make up words like LIQUOR, FAME, PARTY, VOMIT, DEATH, SEX, MARIJUANA, DECAY. their is a DJ set at the top of the stage where Fernando Garibay is spinning the track. Gaga rushes up the runway to the top of the stage where too Geisha-like women pull up a translucent glass blind which Gaga goes behind to get changed.
She comes out wearing a custom made Versace transparent latex kimono. Her nipples are covered in tape and she is wearing gold panties. The gold Versace emblem is embedded in the middle. Gaga begins to sing the song ("Hi, I want to come and make peace with you") and her dancers surround her with signs that say "Lady Gaga IS Satan" "**** LADY GAGA" "Lady Gaga is a TRANNY BITCH" "LADY GAGA IS FLOP" "#ARTFLOP" etc. Then two people dressed in pink police suits come and arrest Gaga (I don't mind if they a-arrest me because I'm wearing my Versace"). The pink suits are a reference to Marilyn Manson's 1998 VMA performance of The Dope Show.
Then Tara and Freddie rush on stage and start to touch up her hair and makeup whilst simultaneously begging the police officers to let her go. Gaga and her friends begin to drink alcohol and choreography starts on the main part of the stage. ("We're currently set from the east I'm from Jakarta...")
Rave lights start as Gaga goes into the chorus. The dancers/protesters start to strip off there clothes and the black tape they have around their eyes and mouths. Gaga eats what looks like a weed leaf and drinks a shot ("Baby smoke it up 'till were high"). They start to touch Gaga and each other and then the insane choreo begins in the J-Pop inspired chorus.
In the second verse, Gaga smears makeup all over her face and begins to tear her wig apart. She smokes a spliff (which MTV later censor) and drinks. She carries on with her choreography and is joined on stage by Adore Delano, Alaska Thunder**** and Jinkx Monsoon of RuPaul's Drag Race as they vogue with her to the chorus build up and strut down the run way. Her dancers make out in the background.
At the final part of the song, Gaga takes her kimono off and strips down to her fishnets and nipple pasties. She struts down the runway with her middle fingers in the air and boldy stage dives at the end. The crowd were shocked.
Gaga exited the ceremony and arrived at the after party in a bubble machine dress that blows bubbles. (IGNORE THE BLONDE WIG PLEASE)
