There's not a doubt in my mind that Ariana is the only reason the song is #1. Here's a couple reasons why:
-Nicki's fanbase can't take a single to #1
-Juicy J has almost no fanbase in the US
It was Ariana's power. And after hearing the song, it's so obvious they only added her to get more appeal. The lack of ad-libs, the lack of anything interesting in her verse. Juicy J prolly recorded it and then the label wanted to add Ari for more appeal.
This is such a hot jazz/pop song
It's jazz sounding but still sounds contemporary and catchy (despite being released 3 decades ago) and not cheesy and without vocals straight out of a corny broadway musical.
I wish GlobalGa would've taken this approach instead of recording a cheesy and boring covers album with that hack
