I mean I get what you're saying and there is something to what you're saying in terms of delving deeper to find greater appreciation in something, but I've always approached music and all art as something to either be enjoyed or not enjoyed primarily on a visceral level first and foremost.
It's a language you need to learn and understand before getting to that level. Music didn't just happen. Most of the music you like (only from what I've read on here) is built on a strict structure (tonality) and has been developed over time. It's not as soulful as people would like to think...
E: when i say learn i don't mean just pen and paper, doesn't have to mean that at all. The ears and memory are what I'm leaning towards
"Timer After Time" is the best pop ballad ever. Who needs longevity when your first two singles are THAT good
Gaga doesn't have 1 song as iconic or timeless as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or Time After Time so we can't even call her the Cyndi Lauper of our generation. She's more the Paula Abdul.
Oh come one .. These songs are beautiful... Especially Spiritually .. What kinda stunning flawless production, it's her Frozen/ Drowned World/ Substitute For Love
Yes at "Substitute for Love". Give that song the ACCLAIM it deserves!
