My take is that you can say that YOU enjoy something or not but to call it good or bad without fully understanding it seems ignorant. Bach's cello suites are some of the most deliberate and intricate pieces of music to exist. I hope that one day I'll have the capacity to understand them. But without that knowledge, I don't enjoy listening to them! There have been many times where I grow to like a piece after learning about it or studying it. I'm sure it happens with everyone with all types of music. It's pretty hasty to form your opinion about something without digging deeper.

I mean I get what you're saying and there is something to it in terms of delving deeper to find greater appreciation in something, but I've always approached music and all art as something to either be enjoyed or not enjoyed primarily on a visceral level first and foremost.
