I meant what is most appropriately jazz. And in this case people don't have proper knowledge of those conventions. There could be a track with instrumentalists that are appropriately jazz and the vocalist could be Beyoncé and her pentatonic runs, nasally embellished timbre etc., and someone without proper knowledge could say it's great because they have no understanding of the context, though it sounds great to their "functioning ears". Stylistically wrong and cringeworthy to any cat. There needs to be context considered when you're stepping out of your own comfort zone.
