'AHS: Freak Show' at SDCC: Cast Announced

Fresh out of the American Horror Story panel Saturday night at Comic-Con comes the official cast for the fourth season of FX’s anthology series. Here’s who’s joining the Freak Show:

Kathy Bates and Evan Peters will be playing Ethel and Jimmy Darling. Joining them will be Angela Bassett’s Desiree Dupree, Michael Chiklis as Dell Toledo, Sarah Paulson in the dual role of conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler, and Emma Roberts as Maggie (no last name as of yet). Finally, series staple Jessica Lange will be playing a character is named Elsa Mars. Chiklis is playing Bates’ husband…and Bassett’s ex-husband.

In other exciting news, one of this year’s core villains will be played by John Carroll Lynch, the great everyguy-psychopath character actor. One of Lynch’s best-known performances came as the possible serial killer Arthur Leigh Allen in Zodiac; appropriately, executive producer Tim Minear described the tone of Freak Show as “Douglas Sirk meets Zodiac.” Everyone go watch Written on the Wind, immediately!

I love Jessica don't get me wrong, but her playing the big bad super Bitch who drinks and smokes like a pirate every season is starting to get stale. Yes her characters differ each season, but in the end they're basically the same in an essence.

Murder House: Southern Racist Super Bitch who lives next door.
Asylum: Super Bitch Nun that runs an Asylum.
Coven: Super Bitch Leader of the Witches
Freak Show: German Super Bitch that owns a Freak Show.

She has been taking on a lot of roles lately, although they're still filming Episode 1 and Emma is in NOLA now so I wouldn't be surprised if she's in the first episode. I do think they're prepping her to be the Violet of the season, the normal girl that visits the Freak Show and gets wrapped up in everything.

I am pretty sure her, Gabby and Jamie are going to be in less episodes though. Especially Gabby, maybe only 2-3 at most.

It's still possible she will appear in episode one... She just wasn't on any of the leaked call sheets and she hasn't been in New Orleans while everyone else is.

Michael Chiklis is the strong man, I'm quite sure Kathy Bates is the bearded lady. There are rumours that Evan is Lobster Boy, since he has huge gloves on in the pics from Episode 1. Angela is likely either a trapeze artist or some sort of Snake Lady; and there was a rumor that Frances is a fortune teller.

Although take it with a grain of salt since a few aren't really freaks.

I was sort of figuring she'd be a normal person. I don't think Emma's likely to take on being some kind of freak or another.

Fingers crossed she slays, though.
