You guys need to get back to reality. The same singles release that worked for her in the Teenage Dream era won't work this time. Back then radio started to pick up her next single even before radio adds and stuff, this time is not like that.

You guys can't expect Katy to be on top of the radio all the time. Single releases after the album is out (MV first, radio adds later, etc) is very common for almost every artist.

Of course she doesn't have to be on TOP all time. We are "ok" with that. The fact is: She has an amazing album with quality and beautiful songs and are choosing the "worst" to be a single. And when I say "worst" I mean: good songs but not potential singles. and it's not about charts, success or whatever, is about good music videos and good reviews for her career.

Well, to be honest, the momentum for the era was disrupted by Dark Horse taking the wind out of the sails of every other single this era. Legendary Lovers would have had a chance if it were released instead of Borthday (which never should have been a single to begin with).

Because they want it to be...it's not based on anything but pure preference.

Does anyone else find it weird how Last Friday Night and This Is How We Do are very similar songs... and they are both 5th singles? I think it'd be AMAZING if Katy brought back Kathy Beth Terry for the TIHWD video!

Also, both Firework and Dark Horse are 3rd singles... and they are two of her, arguably, biggest hits ever.

I feel like Katy... or Katy's team... are trying to follow the same single release pattern as Teenage Dream... but unfortunately it's not working well.

Anyway, I hope this song smashes. It's such a BOP.

Honestly, the only fire hits were Roar and Dark Horse. Anybody could see that a mile away. Everything else was always going to be up in the air, and it just so happened that this album is proving not to have that consecutive hit potential that TD had.

Really though, if TIHWD doesn't do well, is why would Capitol keep releasing singles? Going from an era with 5 #1s to an era with a bunch of Top 20s doesn't look good.

Yeah, TD is a once in a lifetime era.
It won't happen again and Katy mentioned that at the end of the last era.
While I hoped she could still match or surpass Im ok with this era so far and the potential for the remaining era.
I'm glad she got TIWHD out the way now....

Mmm. See, I like LL and think it's a highlight off of Prism, but I don't see it being a successful single. I'm not so hot on TIHWD being a single, but I think even THAT would do better than LL.

When I went to the tour this past week, the crowd loved TIHWD, so maybe we're all wrong? I just think the potential for WOA is being wasted after Bday, but I can wait until next spring.

Anyway, there's plenty of quality songs left on this album if TIHWD flops, I doubt Capitol will waste those songs. Are you ok with those high standards? Katy still had 2 massive hits this era, "doesn't look good" give me a break.
