I first had my doubts since Madonna directed and lbr popstars suck in Hollywood, but I somehow got to watch and ended up loving it. It was pretty moving. I loved the fight scenes, and how she showcased domestic violence for how cruel it actually is and how she merged the two stories. I also thought the actresses gave great performances. Don't you dare post in this thread if you only watched the trailer, I don't need a bunch of smartasses running their mouths around here adding nothing to the thread, capiche?

Dreadful film about Nazi sympathizers. The film itself didn't do anything for me. But what I take exception to is the film defending Wallis and Edward VIII. Madonna can deny it all she wants, but the evidence is there. Three sources contemporary with the couple, yet independent of each other, even said they leaked defence secrets to Nazi Germany during the invasion of the Low Countries and France. These were the German ambassador to the Netherlands at the time, Count Julius von Zech-Burkersroda, the son of the British Army chief-of-staff Field Marshal Edmund Ironside, and a Benedictine monk, Father Odo (Duke Carl Alexander of Würtemberg). Father Odo even said Wally had an affair with Nazi German foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentropp. I could go on and on with more proof, but I'll leave it at that.

Must say though, I thoroughly enjoyed Masterpiece.

The fact it was so widely panned was unfair. It's not the best movie but it's by no means the worst. She put a lot of time into it and should be congratulated for her commitment to it. I think she said she worked on it for 2/3 years.
