Hey at least you can say she got a 9/10 (two in fact) which is not far off from my score (I gave it a 9.4). 1.8 and 2 out of 10 is not as close to the lowest score on metacritic just saying (only one site gave it a 5/10).

You should try it! That's one of the ways to learn more and push your boundaries and sharpen your listening skills. I don't know how much time you have to do it, at least try for the next one. Your comments are usually thought out and have some type of fact backing them, you'd do a good job.
There are artists who create something amazing early in their career, and then spend the rest of their lives trying to live up to that stroke of genius. I'm starting to think Sia is one of those artists, especially after listening to 1000 Forms of Fear. The moment of brilliance I'm talking about is of course her song "Breathe Me", which is forever linked to the stunning series finale of the television show Six Feet Under. That epic, sweeping, heartwrenching song could very well be the fulfillment of Sia's potential. Because since then I have not heard anything by her that even approaches the quality of that opus.
Where does 1000 Forms of Fear go wrong? Almost everywhere. Vocally the album is excruciating to listen to. Sia sings every song the same way, yelling each syllable at full power. There are hardly any delicate moments, there's no vulnerability, she drowns the melodies with her loudness. The production is to blame as well. I am a huge fan of Greg Kurstin, but the work he did here is a major disappointment. Everything is so noisy and similar, it's hard to differentiate the songs even after multiple listens. It's like Sia and Greg are both fighting to be heard. The result is not pretty.
But not everything is bad. Lead single and album opener "Chandelier" is a great song, even though it suffers from the same problems that afflict the whole album. But here Sia's delivery is unique and emotional enough to be good, and the melody is very strong as well. Another standout track is "Big Girls Cry", the album's second track. But after the strong opening, there's not much else to enjoy.
1000 Forms of Fear is an album full of mostly ballads sprinkled with a few more upbeat tracks to pick things up. The standouts upon my initial listen had to be "Burn the Pages", "Free the Animal" (though I kept hearing the lyrics as “Free Ammo”) and "Electric Heart". Tracks like "Straight For The Knife" and "Fair Game" sound interchangeable with others on the album and therefore are quite forgettable. Some of the tracks made me feel like I was listening to music from a different time period and kind of feel out of place in today’s music scene. That’s not to say that they’re bad for that reason, but they just feel like I could find them on an oldies radio channel. Take "Hostages" for example, I could see teens dancing to it on American Bandstand.
Listening to the track "Elastic Heart", I’m drawn in by the out of the box production and vocals. Upon further look, Dilpo has blessed this track. That’s what took it to the next level. The first single, "Chandelier" doesn’t move the register much for me. It falls into the category of “I’ll listen to it after going through all my preset radio stations when nothing else more exciting is playing” though I can see how it has become successful. It also falls into that category of interchangeable songs I mentioned earlier especially with "Fire Meet Gasoline".
Overall, 1000 Forms of Fear is a decent album, though I don’t find it very memorable. I find myself wondering which artists a few tracks may have been for and if they would have done a better job. With that said, I can see myself adding one or 2 tracks to my main playlist.
