My point is it shouldn't not even be considered a "sin" to begin with, so all this talk of God loving the sinner no matter the sin shouldn't even come into it.

I can see why you'd think that, but by saying that they were on the same level, I meant that they were all on the same level. Others seem to disagree, which is fine, but that's not how I or my friend have been raised.

Whether it should or shouldn't isn't up for us to decide. It just is considered a sin. That's not me saying I think it should, I don't think it should be either, but it is.

But I think the biggest positive to come out of religion is that it should be a motivator to be a good person, and always strive for improvement in what you do.

Whereas the mindset of "I'm going to hell no matter how I live my life or only if I DON'T act on my sexual orientation" just seems to me like an unhealthy burden to carry around and that you're carrying on in an institution that's maybe not the most compatible for you.

In that case then all people who believe in religion should stop believing in it then? everyone makes sins and they will be punished for it.

Why would you give your time to something that'll automatically negatively punish you in the end though?

Literally everything is a sin in most religions so to pick and choose what's "bad" while still doing other bad things (according to that religion) is silly. You're probably sinning right now according to your own religion . That's just another reason why you can be gay and still have a religion.

At the end of the day, your choice to identify with a religion is for you and no one else (unless you converted for marriage or something ).

Religion is not just black & white and it's hard to keep worshipping your religion strictly to the book when society has to keep moving forward and embrace all the changes that come with the times.

I know a lot of Filipino expats who have homosexual relationships with Arab men. They say Arab men are thirtiest when it comes to sex because of sexual repression. The Middle East actually sort of becomes a haven for Filipino gays.

My friend was raised a Christian, he's a strong believer, and at some point in his life, he realized that he was gay. He struggled with it, because unfortunately many are raised with the mindset that you can't be gay and a Christian, but he came to terms with it and is still very religious. I don't know if he believes that homosexuality is a sin or not, but I was saying that God loves all sinners no matter the sin.
