The Beyhive has been at their highest level of delusion for the past few days with all these threads Someone needs to bookmark each of the threads, they're all so messy and delusional
But BOMT is leaps and bounds ahead of SL in terms of impact and legacy. I didn't see SL begin a new pop movement (teen-pop/bubblegom pop), nor hit number one all over the world, as one poster above mentioned, SL was a b-side, probably resulting in half its sales. SL is an amazing song worthy of praise, but BOMT is bigger and y'all have to accept that. Bey doesn't win everything.
sometimes it's like all the haters are grouped in a giant bull and don't have any contact with the world where Beyoncé is called a Legend, and where she's the most praised and where Single Ladies has a social impact and where their own faves bow down to the Queen. it's quite embarassing to be that hateful.

If there is one group that is consistently delusional though….
Anyway. You're certainly wrong about BOMT starting Bubblegum pop. The Spice Girls did it before her. When they broke up Britney merely picked up where they left off. BOMT could easily be a Spice Girl song and has the same R&B-teenpop flavour of Wannabe.
...BOMT was debut single for Britney and launched her career to the top. It was no.1 in every country where it charted. Sold more than 8M+ physical copies + digital sales. Video itself it's one of the reasons why this song is so huge and memorable. Only video by female artist that is certified for 100M views on YT.
Everyone knew this song, from kids to old people. Even straight guys were singing it (saw some old Britney's videos). Lyrics are so iconic and even many celebrities covered this and it's used in many movies, shows, etc.
Here's video of people singing ...BOMT in London(If I'm not wrong) (I know that's karaoke, but again you can't sing some song if you don't melody...).
I was alive when both songs came out and the world exploded when single ladies came out
Everyone wanted to learn the dance, everyone wanted to use the phrase ' If you like it then you should have put a ring on it ' , lets not even talk about the millions of videos from around the world, lets not talk about the countless TV shows that parodied or referenced the song and video...
She was on shows teaching people how to flip their effing hand back and forth like it was some type of choreography....
However Baby One More Time was iconic....everyone knows that bassline of the beat, it's very recognizable, it's a fun karaoke song to sing
But it had nowhere near the impact SL had on the world. Single Ladies was a movement....a force....a piece of history

I'm so close to reporting you for all those delusion and trolling.
