LOL you're funny, you obviously didn't see reviews she got for Don Jon, where she was nothing like anything she did, you probably didn't see what she did JUST with her voice in Her, she was amazing in Match Point and Lost in Translation, and she did so much with how little she had to work with in Hitchcock, anyway she got casted in a new Coen brothers film, but I guess that's nothing to... Dude sooner or later she will be Academy Award nominated, deal with it.

ScarJo's performance in Under The Skin was fine, nothing really great. The only thing I think she's really fantastic in is Lost in Translation, which was 11 years ago so idk. She can be hit or miss when it comes to performances. edit: Oh yeah, she was really good in Don Jon too!

Johansson is phenomenal in every sense of the word. She joins Glazer in creating a brave experiment in cinema that richly rewards the demands it makes. The result is an amazement, a film of beauty and shocking gravity.

Johansson provides an extraordinary window into an alien being; through her eyes, we see and hear the world as someone not from here would. Her performance is the payoff that makes Glazer's enigmatic storytelling choices so effective.

Glazer may be the visionary behind "Under the Skin" cinematic highs, but it must be noted that this film lives and dies on Johansson's incredible turn.

Scarlett Johansson is disturbingly good at playing an alien in human form, without any special effects.

Johansson cuts a fascinatingly distant figure.

Scarlett Johansson mesmerizes as an alien who becomes intrigued by her prey-us.

Anyway, I agree on her past performances are often one note and inconsistent

Johannsson may often be playing similar roles but that is because studios cast her in those roles. She has done such a variety of characters in smaller indie movies.

Don Jon

Johansson gives one of her best performances as the bossy, gum-chewing Jersey girl determined to change Jon into her image of a romantic hero.

"Don Jon" is an excellent showcase for Johansson. It presents her at her most alluring and provides her with a character with lots of nuance and authority - there's no point in using Johansson in a movie if she's just going to be nice to everybody. Best of all, she gets to play an East Coast type, getting not just the dialect right but the whole attitude and atmosphere.
