It wasn't until this era that she basically became a forum stan and started lowering herself by involving herself with silly feuds with Madonna fans, complaining about ~the critics, start using embarrassing stan lingo even in her songs, begging fans to buy multiple copies of Applause etc

I actually didn't get into Gaga until The Fame Monster era where she supposedly changed personas. FameGa felt off-putting. I don't think Gaga's "changed" but I do see a decline in motivation. She had way more ambition with Born This Way.

I think it was the real her in the sense that she was playing a persona that she created, I don't think Interscope had much to do with it. It was all performance art. The Fame was the real ARTPOP era.
