29 pages in and I wonder if anyone has brought up the fact being a songwriter and being a lyricist are two different things.

A simple Wikipedia search will show you:

– Songwriter: A songwriter is an individual who originates songs, and can also be called a composer

– Lyricist: A lyricist is a writer who specializes in writing lyrics. A singer who writes the lyrics to songs is a singer-lyricist. This differentiates from a singer-composer, who composes the song's melody.

Beyoncé is extremely talented at vocal arrangement and more of the composing side of songwriting. Not to mention the number of writers who have said she basically wrote entire songs/albums (Details on Drunk in Love, someone I can't remember who on the entire Survivor album)

The point taken here is that beyobce can never write the core of a song by herself. The heart of a song lies on the lyrics ( hence songwriting). It's not fair to call someone a songwriter who cant write a full song by herself from scratch.
