Last night's #FREETHENIPPLE convention at the Osborn III Convention Center in Jacksonville, Florida was filled with excitement. Although the show began at 8pm, fans and other attenders began to arrive at 5pm with hopes of catching a glimpse of Rita Ora, the main headliner, or Azealia Banks and Brandy who were performing short opening sets. Sure enough, Brandy arrived first and walked along the pink carpet; the pink symbolizing support for nipples. She wore a floor length dress with a slit up to her thigh and a fringed leather jacket. She stopped briefly to greet fans and then entered to VIP lounge to relax before performing. Azealia was next to show up. She was wearing a custom made Valentino mini-gown with beaded sequins and complete with boho tinted sunglasses. Ana Kohl, creator of the campaign arrived, wearing a strapless Givenchy dress and had her hair up in a formal bun. Rita was the last to arrive, and was the most spectacular. She wore a see-through mesh crop top embedded with tiny diamonds with no bra underneathe. The top was custom made Alexander McQueen f/w 1998 and her pants where Chanel. She matched her outfit with red Louboutin's and a dark smoky eye and red lips. She was a shimmering image of beauty. She signed autographs and posed for pictures. She then said, "See you guys later, onstage!" After all the celebrities had walked the carpet, the paparazzi and the attendees started filling out the chairs and in no time the arena was full.
First up was Azealia Banks to perform. Known for her charitable ways and attitude towards freedom of the body, Azealia Banks performed at Rita Ora's #FREETHENIPPLE event. At the event Azealia was sure to perform some of her biggest hits like Free and Dramatix but also include songs from her new album Reborn. Throughout the concert Azealia had 3 outfit changes in which they were all designed by a collaboration between Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana. During Azealia's opening song, Paradiso, the crowd went wild jumping in the air from excitement of seeing Azealia perform this hot new hit. Wearing a baby blue flowing chiffon caftan with her straight green extensions blowing in the wind, Azealia looked like a goddess as she stepped out on stage to raise support for the freedom of the nipple. Videos of Azealia's appearance at Rita's event have since surfaced online and gained a notable amount of views on YouTube.
Next was Brandy. She got onstage to the sound of the crowd cheering for her. Before launching into her biggest hits she got the crowd to sing along with her to "Fire" ft Chris Brown. She then danced around the stage engaging the audience through call and response. She sang a couple more of her hits, and thanked the crowd before leaving.
Last up was Rita, herself. When she walked on, the entire arena erupted into cheers. She stood there for a couple of seconds just staring in amazement as the crowd chanted "WE LOVE YOU RITA". She had changed into a mini dress with tiny sequins that reflected the light and made her seem like a moving rainbow. She launched her set off with a fierce performance of her new promo singe "Fire Starter". As the R&B baseline throbbed she jumped and danced along to the beat. Even the crowd got up and joined her. Her vocals reverberated throughout the entire arena and it was truly a performance to see. Next, she sang a cover of Azealia's Paradiso and got the audience to sing along with her. She then called Azealia back onstage for an encore of her first single Vibes. As Azealia sang Vibe's again, Rita added a special bridge to the song. After the song ended, a fan yelled, "Will we ever get this remix of Vibes?" to which Rita responded, "If Azealia says yes." Azealia laughed and told the crowd maybe before hugging Rita and exiting the stage. Rita then sang a small snippet of a song from her new album called, "Impulse to Soar". Before ending her set, Rita sand the fan favorite "Losing Me". She didn't even have to sing the chorus as they sang it for her. When she concluded her performance, she thanked the crowd and left with tears of joy streaming down her face. "It was a night, I'll never forget," she said in an interview following her performance.
