I had severe anxiety about it during college and would get tested once a month, even if I had no risk of exposure. That obsession wasn't healthy, but it's always better to be safe and sure. Now I get tested every 6 months, and when I'm in that waiting room I still get just as terrified.

Here you can get either blood taken or the finger prick test (which is around 95% accurate)

when I got tested I fainted after the blood was taken and then I freaked out because I wasn't told if you were negative they wouldn't bother contacting you to tell you your results

Yes. I saw that sad Matt Bomer film on HBO and had to.

I did a "finger prick" test, they took a little bit of my blood and added this chemical. I got a negative result in 30 seconds.

I've never been so scared in my life! I'd always been safe with full intercourse but slightly careless with other stuff.

The worst thing is, I wasn't scared about any guys I'd slept with. It was this one girl when I was 16 and in my denial phase. She pretty much looked like she showered in diseased semen. The shame.

Oh ****. You're right. You can get it through other ways such as blood to blood contact with an HIV infected person, although those situations are kind of rare.

It just wouldn't be as mandatory to get tested regularly if you were a virgin, is what I'm saying.
