Discussion: Will Katy change her image?

Katy's image change from the OOTB era to the TD era was drastic and noticeable. However, her changes from TD to TD:CC and from TD:CC to PRISM (despite being heralded as her "dark era") were not very large or noticeable at all as far as mood and tone of the eras (see TF and TFM for how to change images on re-release). Will Katy change her image at this point, or do you think she'll basically stick with her current image for the entirety of her career?

PRISM has labelled as the dark era only by some people...Burning the blue wig didn't mean that PRISM was gonna be her dark era. If she was going to release her album in October 2012, it would be dark but she released it one year after when she was feeling fine and healthy

Also, her image since TD has changed A LOT and as Katy said, 'If you're doing ok with your first 3 albums, you can have a self-sabotage 4th album'. Currently, we're in PRISM era. Let's just wait and see.

Exactly. People need to let go of this "um lol wasn't PRISM meant to be a dark era" thing. The whole concept of PRISM is that she "let the light in" and it dispersed into a rainbow of positivity - like a Prism.

Besides, if she did do a "dark era" and was writhing around in a puddle of black goo with 12-inch, black, latex stilettos with guns for heels, everyone would be like "omg she's copying Gaga. She's trying to be Gaga."

Katy knows who she is as an artist. Who she is is bright, colourful and conceptual. Why change who she is as an artist when what she's doing is working so well for her? She tied Michael Jackson's record. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

I'll most certainly be surprised if she somehow manages this feat. I don't ever see her achieving it.

Oneeeeeee day.

I feel like it would be hard for her now. People who only achieve one or two hits and some moderate success are easily able to transition into that but she's a pop culture icon now. It's not all that simple, but I guess she could do it tomorrow if she really wanted to. But that day will be extremely far away.

We'll see.

She said that this would be her last pop album. I highly doubt so, but she'll definitely shift to a darker style, considering she'll be in her 30s as of October.
