Albums involve so many more people than just the artist alone, too. The music industry gives hundreds of thousands of people a living salary (all the behind the scenes people that piracy regulars don't acknowledge).

I've always had a strong opinion on piracy. The only bone of positive reason I would throw to the other side's argument is that it's convenient and at the very least, it's kind of a form of promotion for an artist. Maybe if you illegally download an album, and like that artist's work, you will begin to financially support them through other means, such as merchandise, touring, or future album releases.
