Tim Cook is Apple' s CEO. There are articles saying he is looking to bring in new blood at the board of directors. It doesn't make sense to me because Taylor has her own career and company to run and being on the board of directors for a company like Apple doesn't seem compatible with that at all. Doing business with the company in a way that is beneficial to her through album promotion or sponsorship deal yes sitting on a board no.

Id be curious to know how many hits WSJ has gotten from Taylor's article, and how many "think-pieces" it spawned. That'd be a real indicator of social media power in general and Taylor's power specifically.
