They did most of the reversing in post production when she should've learnt to sing the song in reverse while shooting the video so when they reverse the video, the words would match her lips.
Anyway, I think she was inspired by Coldplay's video The Scientist, which was released a year before MM&I and which is 10000x better.

I think the video is out of sync. Almost 50% of old videos uploaded to VEVO are off. It's annoying. Look at "Say My Name." It is way off!

I just watched it. It's so out of synch that it's hilarious. The entire video was out if synch, at least MM&I had some good moments.
I gave MM&I a low score because of that. I should've known this and give her the benefice of the doubt
