So? Artists are supposed to promote their music, good for her. Her effort paid off and she had the much bigger album. Just because Ms. Knowles chose not to promote doesn't mean BEYONCE had all this untapped potential that somehow would have resulted in much higher sales. She had NO hit singles (radio said NO, buyers said NO) and poor album sales in all those countries where Taylor did promote and did well. Even in the countries she DID promote in, it had barely any effect ("XO" barely moved in the UK despite a BRIT Awards performance), the vast majority of the sales came from those 10 first iTunes-exclusive-no-unbundling days. Promo doesn't save an album destined to tank, as ARTPOP showed us.

She raises some valid points/ insightful observations, but idk other parts of it feel a bit naively condescending (if not disingenuous) with regard to how significant a role the demographic of your audience plays in determining whether or not your album sells. Dunno how realistic her perspective on that is if you applied it to the vast majority of acts within the current industry.
