Latin America is the part of America that doesn't speak English, but actually Latin-derived languages... with some exceptions (e.g. Canada, which also speaks French)
However, "Latinos", even though derived from "Latin-Americans", sometimes is used in the US interchangeably with "Hispanics", which mean Latin Americans that speak Spanish - which is not our case. That's why we don't identify as Latinos to avoid confusion. (Not to mention the cultural image attached to the term)
