No she lost because Kaiba cheated and altered destiny by getting help from a flashback during their duel. He was supposed to summon Obelisk but summoned BEWD instead. They're always ruining things for the kween
People stopped caring for Digimon after its peak, that still wasn't as big as Pokemon (Madead).
Digimon tried to come back with no avail because people just didn't care anymore.
As for Pokemon, it remains being a classic, with new versions and seasons coming along for the real fans, even though they aren't as good as the earlier ones.
