With all due respect, I strongly disagree with your assessment. EDM is not 'basic and plain'. To paint the genre with such broad, uninformed strokes is short changing everyone who works in it. The genre in it's true sense is very diverse and innovative. I'd recommend give some playlists on Spotify a good listen to, then re-approach your attitude towards EDM.

I really hope he does. I can imagine it now. She performs the song based of the music video. It has a space theme to it and Zedd is holding her prisoner. She "breaks free" and starts performing. There is a dance break in the middle of the song and her dancers go nuts on the stage. She comes back, slays the rest of the vocals. Best VMA ending ever

That sounds a bit cheesy, but this could work...Maybe if there was some shock value. Just as long as she doesn't do a Miley shock value and does a Gaga shock value. Maybe Ari could shoot cops, Zedd being one of them and fake blood could spew all over the stage. It'd give people something to talk about.

Exactly. The cheesiness is what could make this interesting though. I do think there needs to be a wow factor. A remix of the song would be awesome with cool drops....

my bad. the wording wasn't great. i don't like pop-based EDM, but i have heard quite a few songs i like and enjoy especial when getting drunk/high/partying. personally R&b is superior to EDM ( old and the one we don't often hear on radio), it doesn't mean EDM is bad just mainstream EDM is.

2-4 years ago, it's fine. I was bopping myself to bad generic EDM. (yes there's quality EDM out there)
But today who's pushing this ? Even Miley Cyrus know better.
That's because people that know nothing about EDM start following other people who say something is "basic" without having the knowledge of the genre aka people are sheep. EDM is a wide genre encompassing many subgenres. EDM makes most pop music today. People think anything that sounds "techno" is automatically "bad EDM". It's ignorance.
i do know about real EDM. i like a lot of the subgenera within EDM. i just hate that mainstream techno version.
