I can completely imagine Max Martin giving bad songs to certain artists, and good songs to other artists. I mean it's kind of ridiculous how monopolized pop music is. If it's a top 40 song chances are it's either Dr. Luke or Max Martin who had a part in it.

That Max Martin "helped" on the production makes perfect sense now. Zedd may have become generic, but only because he repeats himself, and not because his stuff is watered down, like parts of this are.

That outro definitely should have been in the actual song, like right after the chorus/before the next verse.

Change is incremental. Songs from 1985 aren't very different to songs from 1986. But when we look back on them we think "wow, music has changed a lot since the 80s" because change is INCREMENTAL people. The popular sounds in pop music aren't going to change much from 2013 to 2014
