SimCity 2013 was a game that was the beta of the always online DRM (a mania craze that went all the way to Microsoft Xbone), supposed to be an innovative game that would allow gamers to work together at all times. Except, on launch, the game wouldn't run. The servers broke. Everyone who wanted to play was left with the message "SimCity is currently down for maintenance. It will be back up in Parameter: <string>" for weeks. Huge disaster.

It didn't actually flop hard (2 million sales in 4 months), but it was criticized a lot. It deserves it really. To play, you had to be online at all times or it'll kick you out of the game. It was patched, but it's really not made for single players. The area is small, so you're forced to play with others to have a sustainable city. I can't even play offline without having to dedicate one city for utilities, money, and such. The servers are crappy too and wouldn't let people connect. It's a mess and I didn't last a week playing that ****.

I read that EA are about 98% done with The Sims 4 now, so it's pretty much ready for release. They won't make any drastic changes at this stage without delaying the game. #RIPTheSims

There have been great aspects to TS4. Reverse genetics with the create-a-parent tool, their thought process with clothes, emotions, their thoughts on traits. Clearly this is just a team that was either given a low budget or a strict time limit (or both) and had to do what they could.

Still, don't really see the point in cutting pools though. They're so easy to make lol.

I think they are prioritizing performance over everything, which would explain a lot stuff like the heights and even the lack of pools (water with decent quality requires a lot of processing resources)...

People are overreacting, this won't be nearly as bad as Sim City 2013 and I'm sure they're gonna add and fix everything with updates and EPs in the near future. At least this is what I want to believe.

Hopefully it becomes up as part of an update. If I have to pay for things that should have been in the base game (patching is acceptable but rather tacky), then I will just as well get it through other means.

However, the physical aesthetic of the Sims still rocks though. Not here for these creepy human-like dolls people made late in the Sims 2 and Sims 3 life cycles!
