I was recently looking at the list of Bernie's achievements. It's amazing how much he has declined since Rihanna debuted. Rihanna truly ended the Beyst -- especially outside North America.

Rihanna is the best performer.
Her performance at the grammys sent the song to #1 on itunes.
At this point in most of the world Beyonce Knowles is a Kim Kardashian type celebrity; famous for her name, her ass and her marriage.
The vast majority of the world has not heard a Beyonce song on the radio, in shops, restaurants, etc or in clubs since I Am... Sasha Fierce era. Musically she was indeed phased out by the Gaga/Rihanna (Loud era, her peak) combo of 2009-2010 which replaced her in the "diva pop" department. "Drunk in Love" is still a bop though
Why Ari why? Who is her management? Between this, the "Problem" video and the Chris Brown + Justin Bieber duets, I'm not sure they know what's best for her.
As long as people buy the album her singles underperforming isn't that big a deal.
As long as she keeps making over 100M a year, quick lil singles aren't a big deal.
Especially when iTunes takes 30% of the sales, the manager 10 to 20%, record labels, paying radio for payola, producers etc...

It's so weird how promo is doing little to nothing for her this era sans DIL.
Even the DIL promo didn't do much, that song was always gonna be a minor hit in the US. There was such a discrepancy between the media narrative ("Pepcé is a huge star") and tangible public interest. Radio jumped all over the one track that people didn't completely hate to try and bridge the gap. Ultimately to no avail, it sold only 1.5 million copies and was dumped from radio very quickly after its peak.

Bernard can flood the media and world with his payola about how relevant he is (he isn't, at all) but Rihanna will always win. She is effortlessly stomping on Bernard, and that is a fact.
"Drunk in Love" deserved to be a WW smash. It just needed a nice international radio edit that shortened Jay-Z's rap and cut the song down to 3.5-4 minutes.
