2NE1 Park Bom’s drug case dropped because she had a prescription By Phillip | July 1, 2014
KBS News reports that Park Bom’s drug smuggling case was dropped in 2010 after they found she had a prescription.
Park Bom’s drug smuggling case was registered by a prosecutor, but she was not charged for the drug-related crime. The case was suspended after they found that she had been prescribed with amphetamine.
YG Entertainment has said they are holding an emergency meeting to verify the reports. They will soon release a statement.
Various Korean media today uncovered Park Bom was caught by Korean customs four years ago for trying to smuggle 82 amphetamine pills into South Korea during October 2010.
It is alleged the 2NE1 singer tried to bring in the illegal substances from the United States through international shipping, before officials at Incheon Airport intercepted.
Amphetamine are stimulant drugs, which means they speed up the messages travelling between the brain and the body and are usually the same substance as speed.
The drugs are illegal in both the United States and South Korea, unless they are prescribed.
Amphetamine is usually prescribed for disorders such as narcolepsy or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Follow Park Bom’s drug smuggling allegations here.
