It's basically taking the scenario of a rapture-like event and keeping the POV on the people that didn't disappear. What drives them? What is the overall tone of the population? etc. It's more of a character study, than anything. They do explain more in regards to what you saw post-rapture in the first episode though, for sure (the Guilty Remnant, what the Garvey son is doing driving people around, etc. Just wait until E3 to decide if you want to stay or go (all the reviews have been saying that it's by far the best episode out of the first four).
