I know I'm probably going to get ripped and clocked to shreds for saying this, but I don't think Katy is anywhere near the biggest artist in the world, nor was she ever. Throw all the sales figures you want at me, it doesn't matter. She does NOT have one song that will stand the test of time ( as in 35 + years, not 10, nor 20). Granted, she's a popular singer, but she's not one of the biggest in history, like some people on this forum like to say she is. She's been labeled the female Michael Jackson for what, matching a record he has? Great. He didn't use discounts, features, and such tactics to reach number one, did he? Simply put, she will not be nor was she ever as iconic as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cher, Whitney, or any other of those artists. Does anyone here seriously believe Roar and Firework will stand the test of time (35+ years) and remain in the public's mind forever? I sure don't. None of her discography will. And the artists who are on such a list made diverse and memorable hits, something Katy has completely and utterly failed to do. And before you all come attacking my faves, I NEVER said that any of them were going to have such longevity, so no point in attacking them.
Sad I have to say this, because I really like some of the songs on TD (Teenage Dream, CTD, CG, with Teenage Dream being one of my all time favorites), however I just said all of this to clear some of the words delusional stans have said. I would never try to pin any of my faves against all time icons because frankly it's embarrassing and desperate. Let them build their own legacy.

I see your point, but on this day and age is very hard to make a song that will stand the test of time. Everyone is ready to jump on the next hit single.

I don't think anyone is being real when they call Kety the Female MJ, isn't it just to piss the Monsters off?

Reminder: USA-lor is local (looking, sounding, musically, visually, singles, albums, touring, everything..), basic, talentless, generic and her music is NOT country

The last big iconic person was Lady Gaga let's face it. Too bad she imploded. Beyonce before her, and now she surpassed that level.

Lorde's album is pretty good and she's very talented, but as someone mentioned, the original is back and PH doesn't kind of stand even close to UV
