so now itunes isn't a legitment hit give me a break .? it did go to top ten (6) when the album was released and stayed there for a while but even before the bump it stayed in the teens, and this is without alot of airplay supoort. and besides that feedback peaked in airplay in the top 20's in pop formatt. so either way the song was a top 40 hit.

than why is feedback her best digital seller? call on me got ( another top 40 ) by the way got more airplay than feedback but didn't sale as nearly as well. . it well over half a million,

First, no one said iTunes wasn't LEGITIMATE, spelling lesson there. The fact is it moved up due to the album release, then fell. Anyone can ****ing do that, but if they don't last it's a different story. We saw the digital sales.

Second, it was NOT in the teens before it bumped. The single was completely removed, then started over. I'll say it was moving up as a single, however, they got dumb and removed it and pretty much ruined it's chances. Sidenote, airplay support doesn't counteract how something does on iTunes.

Finally, "Feedback" got NOWHERE near the top twenty on pop radio.

Not necessarily. I respect shortstuff and am happy to have another on the roster. However, you can't change the facts--"Feedback" was not played by radio. It got to where it got on downloads alone

Only platinum singles are what we would call * successful*. Below platinum they are disappointments and yes, I know, Break The Ice doesn't fit here. Before someone tries to use that card. Feedback was a flop indeed, it was a 1st single by a major recording star. Janet's star has faded away.

Janet has only released 2 albums in what we consider the "digital era" so Feedback being her biggest digital seller isn't really much of an accomplishment because she really didn't have much of a precedent to overcome. I don't know the actual percentages but haven't digital sales jumped by over 50% since 2006? A bunch more people have iPods now hence the increase in digital downloads across the board. I guarantee if digital sales existed in '93, Feedback wouldn't have even sold a fraction of what the singles from janet. would have sold.

p.s. Eli, I'm not bitter on Janet, I'm trying to be optimistic but I'm also not going to fool myself into seeing something that just isn't there. Feedback didn't appeal to a wide enough audience.

I think you know as well as I do that it's JANET who doesn't appeal to a wide enough audience, not her song. If Rihanna had recorded it it would've been a #1 hit, no questions asked.

BTW, as for the Janet. era... well DUH. That's when she was 27, on top of her game. The best era of her career, if not quite the best album. Nobody could dislike her back then.
