First of all, half of Born This Way had cheesy 80s hair metal meets Bon Jovi stadium rock influences which is nothing at all comparable to late 60s/early 70s psychedelia. You can't just lump it all together as "rock". To take influence from one or the other provides completely different results/vibes. I personally think the 80s hair metal and stadium rock is a lot tougher to transform successfully because its so cornball (imo). That being said Born This Way was a great pop album that experienced mixed reactions from fans that wanted her to go more Robyn-80s club-queen dance pop but I digress.
If this album was Innocence & Pills/Past Lives with Gold Trans Am and some Animal/Cannibal throwback influence I think it would be her best album.
