The whole "that's why it's called a theory!!!!!!!!" defence is only used by people who know nothing about science (and so should probably learn something about it before embarrassing themselves on the Internet). A scientific theory is different from a theory in colloquial use - in this case, a theory means
"A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method, and repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation"
