Not really. She had Venus selected as the second single and was preparing to shoot the video for it. They changed it to DWUW at the last minute after it did well as a promo single and had the Beats commercials airing.
She had to release TEOG because the video was already set to premiere on So You Think You Can Dance. I'm sure if it weren't, Gaga would have axed it too. DWUW wasn't going to be released on TV so cancelling it wouldn't be a huge problem.

Anyone who is defending Lady Gaga is delusional or dumb as a bag of bricks. Do you know who we're talking about here? Lady Gaga -- a woman who only lives for shock value and attention. Do you really think shock value artist Lady Gaga didn't know what she was doing when coming up with a concept of having a known rapist, R. Kelly, knock her out unconscious with drugs on a table, while people mess with her body? She's deliberately making these images to imply rape (by a man? by the media?) and cause controversy. Even Lady Gaga's "Dope" cover shoot implies rape. She knows what she's doing and she truly is the lowest of the low and a disgusting human being for thinking she can pass off rape as "art."
