I just associate Max Martin with big production pop hits. That's my favorite stuff from him, but not really from artists like Taylor. He has produced ballads though that I love ("Unconditionally")

I'm not saying it's not pop 'cause it is. And that's not a bad word and not indicative of a lack of quality. I'm just pointing out that Red does have prominent alternative influences in a lot of the songs and apparently I'm not the only one who noticed that.
