Like, the jump from TS1 to TS2 was massive, and lots of things were good about TS2 (There was more of a sense of a story to it, and things seemed more together and were sort of cuter), but TS3 is way better. It's much more advanced in the department of looks, graphics, and general gameplay. TS2 is overrated, and now all those people that were complaining about TS3 are getting a rehash of TS2.

See, I wanna buy it because the sense of emotion & character involvement (not to mention CaS alone) seem much better than any of the other games, but so many things are being taken out that are making the game seem worse.

You only get to choose 3 traits, then you get a fourth trait with your aspiration, and you get a fifth one upon completion of your aspiration. It's dumb. TS3's trait system remains superior.

I agree. If all this is true I feel like they kinda ruined the game. I feel that's a problem with the whole series. The fans whine that they want something and they do a crappy version. Look at all the expansions for Sims 3, they were rehashes nothing new besides a few at the end.

I'm hoping this image is representative of what it will be like. The world seems open, even if there's a loading screen between lots & districts; you can see the rest of the world, but it's sort of out of focus.

I think I'd only get really upset if it was all blocked out like in TS2 where you can't see anything else.

The graphics are also a huge downgrade from TS3 imo, which is ruining it for me

Tbh I'm pressed that this is set in an alternate universe like I was hoping I'd get to have more storyline to all the sims. Like if it was set after TS2 and we could find out what happened with Cassandra and Darren

I think the graphics look much better than TS3. Some graphics in TS2 are better than TS3, such as shadowing and trees.

Can someone explain to me how The Sims look so dramatically different in TS3 when they are indoors versus outside in the world? The difference is tragic and I never understood.

They do but they look way more polished and less opaque. That's a stylistic choice, not a graphical one.

I have to agree with this. I'm not a fan of the cartoonish look, but the graphics at least are slaying.

Since the Sims characters is now driven by DNA, CAS now has a new feature (our favorite): The family genetics. When creating a new Sim you can do that like you always did and start at the beginning or use the new functionality and randomize children of two existing Sims – finally hair color isn’t the only thing that kids inherit from their parents. They actually resemble them. In the same way you can create parents and siblings. Your family actually looks like certain physical features are passed on.

A sad fact about The Sims is that it will never be graphics heavy to the degree of, say, next generation. The people who play The Sims are people who usually do not play anything else and they have to make it for their biggest market - people uneducated on specs and computers. It's probably just going to be minor graphical updates instead of like The Witcher 3 graphics for quite a long time.

Depends on the hype when it comes to first week sales. Sims 3 had a TON of hype and it looks like they aren't promoting TS4 well at ALL. They need to start with the commercials on TV and ads on websites and YouTube.
