I think Ultraviolence hits a lot of high points when its most distorted, unhinged, and overblown: Cruel World, the guitar section of Shades of Cool, the manic chorus-like segment of Pretty When You Cry, the more intoxicated or hazy parts of Brooklyn Baby. The exception is West Coast, which is as many parts smoothly elegant and restrained as it is distorted.
Mess. To me it's by far the best usage of a sound effect that overshadows her voice. The song wouldn't be the same without it, see the Radio Mix.
