Arya really emerged from that season as the pre-eminent character. I thought her moment laughing at the gates of the vale and her final moments with The Hound were very powerful. Some of the best addendums they've made this season.

This was a great finale but a lot of you are now disappointed because of this character who only has 1 epilogue and one chapter in the books so far.

You do know that the point of foreshadowing is not to straight up yell it at the viewer/reader, right? Rewatch the season, the focus on Cat was IMMENSE, particularly one episode around 6-7ish where it came from both Arya and Sansa focusing on their mother . I guess the nature of foreshadowing itself creates a debate on whether it really existed at all, but in the minds of pretty much every book reader I've talked to, it was there. And I agree. So yeah I would recommend rewatching.

And I've listed my reasons for why I was disappointed by the episode, and overall I'm pretty happy about it. Stop with the strawmen, please, and stop undercutting how damn powerful that epilogue was.

Yes it was powerful. My jar dropped and I can't wait to see it on tv.
But it bothers me that everyone is trashing the finale because it didn't include it. The episode was amazing but it's now overshadowed by it.
I'm usually the first one to trash D&D but Im glad they didn't include this. Let them take their time and do it right. Season 5 could have an amazing premiere...

Everyone is raging about LSH. The writers are so STUPID. That would've generated so much hype for next season and internet would go OFF. It's kind of thing that's MADE for season-end cliffhanger.

And now, after all these MELTDOWNS, people who even don't know who she is will see everyone is talking about GoT and this "LSH" person and will eventually in next 10 months spoil it for themselves and ruin everything. Way to go D&D, ruined the best thing about this show

For an adaptation of the second half of the best book in the series, I'm a bit disappointed. Especially with the finale. The epilogue left us with a PUNCH. The finale with a wimper.

All I can hope is that they bring it next season.

As it stands now Season 3 is still the best. Then Season 1, Season 4, and Season 2. In that order.

EDIT: If you're sensitive about spoilers I suggest not reading any outlets reviewing the episode as they all give away a huge one while reviewing it.

The report on me was cleared by the way but I'll put my thoughts on this episodes (NO book spoilers - I don't even read them) in spoilers because I guess it hasn't been broadcasted in some areas yet (though this has never been an issue before). I thought it was a great and tighty-paced episode. Can see why it is the only episode submitted for best writing at the Emmys. Let's see..

Kit has warmed up to his character so greatly. A shame he wasn't entirely all there last season when he was still working things with our dear Ygritte but he's been making up for it in spades this season. I love the actor that plays the leader of the wildlings btw.

The Lannister's remain my favorite family on this show. It was finally great to see their family line, of which Tywin has always so proudly believed in, be utterly decimated. Playing The Rains of Castamere was bloody brilliant. Going to miss Charles Dance and his lovely work. Lena brought her A game on. This was the best she's ever been imho and she was MVP in her short scenes.

Praise the lord, Shae is dead! BYE!

Poor Dany. I think Emilia did a great job this time around. She had some wonderful cinematography guiding her and you could finally see the flaws in Dany's character. The breaker of chains.. enslaving her children.. oh, the irony. And that final shot of her was so sad. She truly put herself in a difficult position.

Yes at Bran's storyline FINALLY picking up! That fight was straight out of the final levels of Tomb Raider (2013) but it was beautiful to watch and I love how they are slowly reintroducing the magical elements back into the show.

Arya/The Hound/Brienne. No more to say.. was so afraid that Brienne was going to die but she ended up being victorious. Poor Hound though.

Oh book-readers, here's a handy little list that I saw browsing Tumblr detailing the status of the characters in the show vs. the progress of the books. Just in case you need to make the decision to keep watching or not.


Status of the ASOIAF/GOT Characters Post-S4

Arya: Just finished ASOS and moving into AFFC. She has six chapters of material left, including Mercy. She also has warging/skinchanging material that hasn't been touched on yet and could be explored.

Bran: Still in the middle of his ADWD chapters. Will the material for his remaining two chapters stretch over S5 or will we hit massively important spoiler territory very quickly?

Dany: In the middle of ADWD. This is the novel where she has the most chapters, so the material could last her through S5.

Jon: Completed ASOS and going into ADWD. He has 13 chapters that could go through S5 and into S6

Tyrion: Has just finished ASOS and will move into ADWD. He has 12 whole chapters left that could conceivably stretch beyond S5.

Cersei: Will begin her AFFC story next season. Her 12 total chapters will likely see her through S5 and S6. But since D&D want to end in seven seasons, book spoilers will probably start for her in season six.

Jaime: He just finished ASOS, but much of his AFFC story has been eliminated due to changes in previous episodes/seasons. Who knows what he'll do.

Sansa: Her book material was pretty much exhausted/eliminated in the eighth episode of S4. She'll likely go straight into TWOW in S5 with that controversial chapter and D&D fan fic.

Brienne: She's technically been going through her AFFC material this season, but since important parts of it have been left out of the series and more things have been added (knowing Arya is alive) who knows where she'll go from here.


I actually think this might be the end of the road for me for now, show-wise. Not because I'm raging about the finale, which really was the best finale of the show so far despite any misgivings, but because I don't want D&D fanfic to be my first exposure to some of the futures of the characters, particularly Sansa and Bran. Either that or GRRM needs to put out TWOW within the next year which lol. A shame, but I'll catch up with it later.

GRRM already told the showrunners what happens at the end of the series, so AFAIK, they have ALL the material. Like I said before, the way GRRM is writing, the show watchers might find out before us book readers.
