Omg I'm reading up on how to change your name in the UK and apparently you don't even need documents, it's British law that you can just start using a new name by yourself without doing anything.
How does one keep track of their name if you don't have documents involved?

How would that work? Legally your name would still be the name you were born with so all of your official documents and whatnot would still be under that name even if you started using a new name.
I would never change my first name but I wouldn't be against changing my last name. I'm not really interested in getting married so when I found the person I wanted to be with for the rest of my life I might change my last name to theirs as a sign of my commitment
